Meet Lucy Ann!
Lucy Ann has been with our rescue the longest of any of our current fosters. She came to us via someone who rescued her from a puppy mill in Kentucky. We believe she was kept outside in a crate for breeding. She had heartworms, 2 tick born diseases, and was infested with internal parasites (they were literally crawling out of her!). Her nails were so long they were growing into her paw pads, her fur was brittle and falling out, her ears were swollen shut from chronic infection, and she could hardly open her dry infected eyes. Soon after she came to us, she developed pyometra (an infection of the uterus) and underwent an emergency spay! She was a MESS! It took us almost a year to get her healthy. Sadly, that lasted only a couple months and then she took a devastating turn for the worse. She began having continual muscle spasms that led to her hospitalization earlier this year. Lucy currently receives acupuncture every single week. We use animalEO NeuroBoost & NeuroBalance essential oils, as well as the KVP Cura Patch with her. She eats a special diet by Dr Morgan for her allergies and to remove stagnation in the body. A combination of these approaches has thankfully brought Lucy some relief. It’s still an uphill battle and it’s devastating to see her quality of life reduced. Lucy has been with us so long that we truly do consider her part of our family and we pay for a lot of her care out of our own pocket. Unfortunately Lucy has multiple mammary masses that are multiplying and getting larger. We have gone back and forth debating about removal (which would be a BIG surgery removing her entire mammary chain), or doing an MRI to try to identify if there’s a neurological reason for her spasms. If you would like to help support Lucy’s ongoing care please visit Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue , or send her an item from her Amazon Wish List or Meat & Tater Wish List. Happy Howlidays from Lucy Ann! |

Meet LilyMunster (The Bulldog Formerly Known As EggRoll)
Lily came to us from a shelter in northern Indiana. She has already been spayed and she is up to date on vaccines. Her teeth look great and she has no major health issues! She has few facial wrinkles that need cleaned, just a daily wipe of her tail pocket. Lily loves car rides and is a perfect copilot. She also loves to cuddle on the couch and watch TV with her human. Lily would do best as the only pet in the home. With a proper slow introduction, she is tolerant of other animals, but will resource guard food and attention. You can tell she is less comfortable when out with the other dogs and we hope we can find her a home where she has ALL the attention. Lily also needs a fenced in yard for privacy during potty time. She gets too distracted by other people and animals if leash walked and doesn’t finish her business. She does much better with a fenced in yard where she can find the right spots (yes plural). She loves to run around the yard and play with jolly balls. She is potty-trained with a consistent schedule during the day, but may have some accidents at night. She is crate trained and enjoys a Yak chew or a peanut butter Kong during quiet time. Lily obviously has several adoption requirement, which has made her a little bit of a tougher palcement. Please share her post and help us find her the perfect home - no pets, no kids, fenced yard. And if you would like to help support Lily’s ongoing care, please visitPaypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue, or send her an item from her Amazon Wish List. Happy Howlidays from LilyMunster! |
On the third day of Christmas my true love brought to me…

Chubbs came to us from a family in Illinois. They had lost their home and couldn’t take Chubbs with them. Chubbs is a big boy weighing in at about 80 pounds.
He is also a great BIG baby! Chubbs has some anxiety that has gotten much better with CBD oil and consistent positive fear-free training. It’s still a work in in progress and he will need someone who is dedicated and patient with him. The first 2 weeks he will be needy and clingy and whiney and .. well, a big baby! But he does mellow out once he feels safe. Remember the rule of three when it comes to adoption… It often takes three days for a dog to realize they’re staying in a new home .... Three weeks for them to start to get the hang of your routines.... And three months for them to feel safe and secure (some dogs take less time and some dogs take more time). Chubbs now spends his day lounging on the couch looking out the window while his foster parents are at work. He gets along well with his foster brother (but they *are* still typical bulldogs, so of course have their moments lol) Chubbs would do best as either an only- dog or in a home with an easy going , mellow dog. He’s not a multi-dog home kinda guy. No cats and No small kids (he really just doesn’t know his size!) He’s coming along on loose-leash walking skills. He will come with a Freedom No-Pull Harness, a treat bag, clicker, and some high quality treats to continue the progress. His longer legs and a bit of a snout make him much more tolerant of exercise. He loves to play ball in the backyard. Chubbs’ adoptive home will need a fenced in yard. Medically, Chubbs’ only issue now is a history of Mass Cell Tumor. The mass was noticed quickly and the vets believe they got good margins when removing it. Any bumps should be checked out in the future just to be safe. Chubbs would do best on a low carb diet if possible in his new home. He does have less wrinkles to clean than the typical bulldog. No major allergies. Chubbs is a great guy who just needs to find the right home as special as he is. If you would like to help support Chubb’s ongoing care, please visit Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue, or send him an item from his Amazon Wish List! Happy Howlidays from Chubbs! |

Meet Super Cooper !
Someone shared Cooper’s shelter photo with us on a Tuesday night ... he was slated for euthanasia due to space on Thursday...oh and he was in New Orleans! 😭 But Bullie Nation came together and saved this guy’s life! He was pulled from the shelter and made the trip up to Indianapolis thanks to a couple volunteers. His neuter and dental surgery was sponsored by a Bullie Nation family. He’s now ready to find his forever home! Cooper can be dog selective... he’s generally a little reactive towards larger breed dogs. He does well with dogs smaller than him who are more mellow and easy going. He loves attention and will be your little shadow! Whether you’re watching TV on the couch, cooking in the kitchen, or even taking a shower , Super Cooper will be nearby in case you need him. 😂 He loves playing ball in the backyard. He loves the snow. He’s good on a leash. Not destructive inside. And he is just happy 👏🏼 all 👏🏼 the 👏🏼 time 👏🏼! Sometimes i literally want to cry when I look at him - he was going to be killed for no reason other than space. There were too many dogs at the shelter. 😭 He is the goodest boy! All Cooper wants for Christmas is his own family! Please share his story and help him find his home! If you would like to help support Cooper’s ongoing care, please visit Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue, or send him an item from his Amazon Wish List! Happy Howlidays from Super Cooper! |

Meet Greta!
Greta was surrendered to local all breed rescue. They discovered that she had crystals in her urine and their vet recommended prescription diet and x-rays to check for stones. She was having a difficult time in her foster home, so they reached out to us to see if we would take on her issues. Of course we said yes. We immediately put her on a real food home-cooked diet created specifically for the type of crystals she has in her urine. We then followed up with our veterinarian and did complete labs as well as a urinalysis. Overall everything looks great and she no longer has crystals in her urine and no stones were seen during the ultrasound of her bladder 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Greta underwent surgery today to be spayed, have a dental cleaning, and have her elongated corrected. We will continue to monitor her to see how she does post op. She has had some mild regurgitation issues, which we were thinking maybe due to her palate. If those issues continue, we will follow up with our veterinarian to figure out what’s causing it. If you would like to make a donation towards Greta’s care , click the donate button or visit PayPal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue You can also send Greta something from her amazon wishlist! Happy Howlidays from Greta ! |

Abi’s owners filled out a surrender form on our website. When we got to the sentence where they said that they had put her outside because of her incontinence, we knew we had to act fast. Snow was coming and these delicate babes can not tolerate extreme temperatures. Within 3 hours, our volunteers and even their family came through to save her from spending the night outside.
Abi had a full work up with our vet. She has a severe severe bladder infection, but no stones were seen on the ultrasound. This week she will begin another specific antibiotic identified through a culture of her urine. After three weeks on this antibiotic, we will recheck her urine and will also do another ultrasound of her bladder as well as her kidneys to check for stones. The type of crystals seen in her urine is specifically caused by infections. after reviewing her medical records from her previous owners, it seems that she has had repeated infections. One hypothesis of why she has had chronic infections is due to the shape of her volva. She may require surgery to do a little nip tuck in that area. The excess skin may be harboring bacteria and thus causing repeated infections. Learn more about Abi on our website (please remember Abby has only been with us for about a week, so we are still learning about her personality and will update her bio as we get to know her better) : HoosierBulldogRescue.com/Abi If you would like to help support Abi’s ongoing care, please click the donate button, visit Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue, or send her an item from her Amazon Wish List! Meet Bentley! Bentley came to us a few months ago. His family was deployed to Hawaii and the trip across the country, on the plane, and in quarantine was just too much for this delicate little guy. He stayed with his grandma for a several months but his care was more than she could handle. With the consent of his family, she reached out to us for help. Bentley has a history of allergies and ear infections. He was on medication but continued to suffer from these "typical bulldog issues." We immediately stopped the Apoquel and detoxed his body from it. He's been on a high quality food for the last few months and is doing amazing. His skin and ears look great! His adoptive family will be required to continue this food (NO exceptions- the only other alternative is to upgrade to a balanced RAW DIET). We will not risk him backtracking in his health due to low quality food. Bentley also has anxiety. He would love a nice quiet home to relax in. He's not big on traveling, although his car anxiety is much improved with the help of CBD oil. He loves to lounge on the couch during the day, but he prefers to sleep in his crate at night. In fact, he has a strict bedtime of 10pm. He puts himself to bed at 10pm every night. If not allowed to go to his crate at this time, he does get pretty cranky! LOL Bentley also gets along great with other dogs and cats! We wanted to keep Bentley in our care for at least 3 months to monitor his diet change. Now that we are confident he is doing well, he is ready for adoption and we are currently screening apps. He has a meet n greet set up for after the holidays! Until then, you can sponsor Bentley's care (food, CBD oil, etc) through Paypal.me/hoosierbulldogrescue Or purchase something from his Amazon Wish List! Happy Howlidays from Bentley! |

Meet St Nicholas!
Nick was found as a stray and taken to the shelter. His microchip was scanned, but the person on the chip denied ever having owned a bulldog. So the day his stray hold was up, we sat the shelter and waited until the clock struck 6..... At 6pm on the dot, they released him into our custody. He had a vet appt the very next day and was started on antibiotics. His teeth were completely rotted and some nearly falling out. Every time he ate, he would sneeze and food would come out of his nose. We got St Nick in ASAP for a dental surgery to assess what was going on. They sedated him and began to insert the breathing tube; however he had a lot of discharge through his nose so they decided to not proceed with surgery. When they removed the tube, it was covered in more gunk. So we've sent that off to be cultured and until then he is receiving daily injections of antibiotics. The good news, while he was sedated, they went ahead and extracted two of his teeth that seemed to be causing the most pain. He'll need a full dental later, with probably more extractions. He'll also need his elongated palate corrected. Our vet would also like to refer us to an ophthalmologist for possible removal of his eyes - they are in such bad shape that he may be better off without them. We will continue on with the eye meds for awhile to see if they help. He already seems to be in better spirits. In fact, his foster parents said he's even chewed on a couple rope toys the last couple days! This sweet old man has a big recovery ahead of him, but we're so happy he's with us. We'll do whatever we need to get him as comfortable as possible for as long as possible! You can donate to his care in one of the following ways: - clicking the "Donate" Button on Facebook - visiting Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue - sending him something from his Amazon wish list - sending him something from his Meat n Tater's Pantry list Happy Howlidays from St Nicholas! |

Hank aka "Little Sexy" came to us from a local shelter. He had been at that same shelter a few years before. His intake photo at that time was of a beautiful healthy bulldog...... he was returned covered in scabs and sores, with nails so long they were overlapping. He also looks just like Arthur (aka Big Sexy), who we pulled from that same shelter last year.
Hank is overall a healthy boy; it will just take a lot of love and care to get his skin back on track. It's never a good sign when your seasoned vet says she's never seen that amount of bacteria on a cytology slide before! :( Hank gets bathed in My Dog Foo shampoo 3 times a week. He's on good food (Farmina lamb) and gets Answers raw goats milk with every meal. His foster mom rubs skin balm on him that is infused with animalEO essential oils. He will have a long road ahead of him, but he's already so full of life! In a matter of weeks he has gone from completely shut down to an energetic playful boy. We can't wait to see Hank's "After" photo! You can donate to Hank's care in one of the following ways: - clicking the "Donate" Button on Facebook - visiting Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue - sending him something from his Amazon wish list - sending him something from his Meat n Tater's Pantry list Happy Howlidays from Hank! |

Duke came to us from a shelter in Indiana. His dad went into the nursing home and he was surrendered to the shelter. Sadly, he had not been cared for in quite some time. Duke’s neglected condition was a painful reminder that we need to check in on our elderly family, friends, and neighbors. With a simple bath and some snout soother, Duke looked so much better already. In the last three months, his skin has improved and he has shown a drastic increase in energy (and mischievousness). Unfortunately, Duke had an elevation in liver enzymes on his labwork. He has been on several supplements for his liver, and we just redid his labwork… unfortunately he has not shown improvement. He will be scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound soon and we will likely be changing his diet to a liver protocol. You can donate to Duke's care in one of the following ways: - clicking the "Donate" Button on Facebook - visiting Paypal.me/HoosierBulldogRescue - sending him something from his Amazon wish list Happy Howlidays from Duke! |

Remi was surrendered to us on New Year's Eve last year. Her family reported that she was being surrendered because she was not good with kids or other dogs. However, as soon as we got her we knew she had some medical issues that needed immediate attention. She was overweight, had entropion (where the eyelashes rub on her eyes which can eventually cause ulcers), and she was regurgitating her food caused by a condition caused megaesophagus. This condition is when the esophagus is too big and the muscles don't work properly to push the food down to the stomach. So the food sits in the esophagus and eventually comes back up. She now has her own Bailey Chair to eat upright, letting gravity help pull the food down. She eats Answers fermented raw pet food formed into tiny meatballs. She is on Sildenafil (yep, Viagra) as well as several Chinese herbs and supplements. She just underwent her third eye surgery. We have recently moved Remi to "Pending Adoption"...we don't think she's going to be leaving her foster family! But first we need to make sure she's as medically cleared as possible! Her condition will be a lifelong one to manage, but her foster family has given her the best care and are willing to help her however she needs. She's a lucky little girl! Until then, if you would like to continue supporting Remi's care, please click the donate button, visit us on Paypal.me/hoosierbulldogrescue, or send her an item from her Amazon wish list. Happy Howlidays from Remi! |

On the Twelfth Day Of Chrismtas, my true love brought to me…..
a little poop monster Hermione was surrendered to us due to having bloody diarrhea since the age of 6 weeks old! Her breeder and previous owner tried a variety of diet changes, but by the time she got to us she was severely anemic due to blood loss through her stools. We did iron supplements and a fecal transplant, as well as Chinese herbs for digestive health and parasites. She's gone through the Adored Beast Leaky Gut Protocol and is on animalEO essential oils. She has come a long way, but her stools are far from normal. She now gets weekly acupuncture as well as spinal adjustments (chiropractic care). She's on a variety of supplements and we continue to tweak her diet to try to get the best possible results. Unfortunately she was bred specifically for looks, with no consideration of health; therefore her issues will likely be lifelong. To continue supporting Hermione's care...
Happy Howlidays from Hermione! |
