Quick Bio:
Status: ADOPTED 5/20/18 ** AVAILABLE JULY 2021****
Age: 7

Breed: English Bulldog
Potty Trained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Good with other dogs: Best as only dog
Good with cats: No
Medical: Arthritis, Chronic Ear issues due to stenotic canals

Pippa has come back into rescue after her mom became very ill and could no longer care for her. Pippa is a sweet quiet girl who would love to continue being the only dog. She's wonderful with children though. Her only medical issues are allergies (maintained by diet), arthritis, and some ongoing ear issues due to previous neglect that has caused her ear canals to be very narrow.
Picture
Kate and Pippa are approximately 2-3 year old siblings who came to us after their parents got divorced. However, they are NOT BONDED and will be adopted out separately. It is clear they had been neglected and abused for quite some time before being surrendered. Both have skin infections and hair loss, bad dental health, as well as significant ear infections.

Kate & Pippa's first vet visit only an hour after rescue;

Day 1 in rescue!
Bloodwork came back and great news - they are negative for Heartworm and Tick Born Disease! And fecal shows no parasites!

10/26/2017 Healing Session with Metaphysical Consultant Coryelle Kramer

Kate: "I feel lighter in my chest... I keep a lot of tension there and it's gone! It's a wonderful feeling."

Pippa: "I feel so much better....not so trapped in my mind. Thank you explaining about being safe now and that they will help me to find the home I deserve. Please let them know I appreciate them and what they're doing, It can be overwhelming when you aren't sure what's going to happen."

The ultimate goal of Rescue is to match the right family and the right dog. We put a LOT of effort into this matchmaking process.
But sometimes it just doesn’t pan out like you expect.... Kate and her new bullie brother just weren’t hitting it off. Her new family did everything right. They reached out to us immediately when they sensed there may be a problem. They brought in a great positive-based trainer to assess the situation. Ultimately, we all felt maybe it just wasn’t the best fit after all.
So Kate will be going back to her foster home to review some more applications. If you think you may be the right match for this princess , please fill out an application on our website.

Hoosier Bulldog Rescue wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to Erin and the staff at California Closets of Indianapolis for taking collections this holiday season for us! Your donations will make a huge difference with our rescue! We appreciate you!

Erin delivered the donations and Pippa exchanged them for some hugs!

I don’t understand why I’m being asked to pee outside when there’s a perfectly warm house with a pee pad down inside it. Just sayin. #PippaDoesntDoSnow

Pippa got adopted !!!!
Pippa checking in from her forever home! She looks so happy!

Picture
Welcome back Pippa. Pippa was adopted in 2018 to the most amazing home. Sadly her mom , like so many over the last year, have had some health issues that made it increasingly difficult to care for her. It was not an easy decision to let her go, and we send all our love and comfort to her mom during this time. We will ALWAYS take back our dogs if at any time their family can no longer care for them. Pippa is now about 6; she is already spayed and has had great medical care over the last few years. She just needs a home to provide love and support…and a little snout soother

Slow introductions are key to a successful integration of pets. Pippa and resident dog Bruce are getting to know each other.

7/23/21 Update - Pippa had a vet visit yesterday. Her previous UTI has cleared up but she has an ear infection we’ll start treatment for. She has always had some environmental allergies …. She’s not itchy so we will continue to monitor and change her diet if needed.
She does have some arthritis. She is 6-7 now. So we are starting some supplements for that.
Pippa is looking for a home where she can be the only dog. She’s mostly tolerating / ignoring the resident dog, but is clearly not comfortable with him when they are out together. She is absolutely wonderful with kids though! She’s been around kids since coming into rescue in 2017.
Please fill out an app on our website if you think she may be a good for your family.

7/26/21 Update -
Pippa's urinalysis looks good, so her UTI is cleared up. Just working on treating an ear infection and we'll be all set!

Pippa would prefer a home without other dogs, but she loves kids. Her only health issues are some arthritis and managing her allergies.

8/11/21 Update -
Pippa had a vet appointment yesterday to recheck her ears, skin, and joints.

Good news: skin looks great!
Neutral news: joints seem less painful on the supplements... but obviously she’ll continue to have some arthritis to be managed as she ages.
Bad news: ears look the same, so we moved to a new treatment plan and hopefully this does the trick.

Recheck in 2 weeks.

We are accepting applications for her now though…. Needs to be the only dog. She’s good with older kids though.

9/10/21 Update - Pippa's ears are not  healing. We've done 2 types of ear meds with no improvement. Today we cultured them, and our amazing vet is working us in on Monday for surgery! Pippa has a few bad teeth that need removed and they're going to investigate her ears while she's sedated. They'll also do a quick snip to remove a skin tag.
Picture
9/13/21 Update - Sweet Pippa had surgery today. She had 3 teeth extracted, her ears flushed, and we went ahead and removed a skin tag since she was under.

Sadly we don’t have good news about her ears. Her ears canals are calcified from chronic infection. This is likely permanent. We sent off a culture and hopefully we can at least kick the current infection.
Picture
10/5/21 Update - One ear infection is resolved and the other is almost there! We were going to opt for one more long-acting treatment, but the shipping was delayed. So, it's daily drops for a week, which is highly unpleasant for all. Sorry Pippa!
Picture
10/7/21 Update - Pippa's ears are finally looking good! She has a recheck next week.

10/31/21 Update - There's no place like home! Pippa is hoping if she clicks her little bully heels together, she'll have a home of her own soon. In the meantime, she's here to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!
Picture

11/3/21 Update -
Guess who’s ears are significantly improved! We’ll do one more cytology in 2 weeks to make sure it’s officially cleared, but this is great news! Pippa needs a home where she is the only pet. She’s good with kids 10+. She’s 6, and has some arthritis that will need continued management. And due to her very tiny and calcified ear canals, she’ll need someone who stays on top of them to make sure infection doesn’t creep back up. She’s otherwise healthy and a very quiet polite baby.

7/7/22 Update - Pippa is at the vet today for her annual wellness. We will do senior labwork today. She also has an ear infection again. Her ears have been an ongoing issue since she came back in rescue. But her arthritis is so much better and her coat/skin is great.
Picture
7/12/22 Update - Pippa’s senior labwork overall looks great! Her urine pH is a little high so we’ll start a supplement to prevent any crystal formation in the future. Her ears were treated with a long acting med and she has a recheck in 3 weeks.
