Intake Date 7/27/22: Five puppies were left outside a vet clinic sometime last night. Yes last night when it was storming. 4 crammed in a crate and 1 left in a basket. The 1 in the basket was so sick he couldn’t even move. The vet made the difficult decision to help him pass. The vet staff took two of the puppies, and we took the other two. They are terrified but so sweet. Welcome to the good life babies.

When they came to us they were filled with worms and very malnourished. Biscuit was the healthier of the two brothers. The vet estimated they were about 8 months old even though they looked much younger when they came to us. Biscuit is not bonded with his brother Gravy and they are in separate foster homes. They will not be adopted out together. Both Biscuit and Gravy will need to be neutered before they go to their new homes. Both boys have been steadily gaining weight and working on their potty training and socialization skills.

11/14/22 Update - Biscuit's first winter experience!

11/24/22 Update -
Our baby Biscuit is scheduled for neuter on Monday. So of course he developed a prolapsed urethra yesterday. His foster family got him to the vet for evaluation immediately (huge thanks to Bargersville Vet Hospital for getting him in!) Thankfully at this point we have been able to manage at home with a sugar paste for inflammation and Yunnan Baiyo Chinese Herb for bleeding. Neuter is generally the recommended treatment for a prolapsed urethra. Hopefully we can continue managing until Monday. If not (meaning the prolapse comes out and does not go back in) he will be off the emergency vet.

11/28/22 Update - it's snipping day for Biscuit and Gravy! All went well.

11/29/22 Update - Biscuit continued to prolapse after neuter surgery. He went back today and had a catheter placed. Before we got in the house, it fell out. We will be monitoring urine output tonight. If he can't urinate, we'll be back at the vet tomorrow. Worst case scenario is he would need a specialty consult.
