Adopted 2/02/20

Bentley is a big wrinkly cutie pie, but he looks like he skipped a few leg days at the gym! LOL
He came to us a few months ago.His family was deployed to Hawaii and the trip across the country, on the plane,
and in quarantine was just too much for this delicate little guy.
He stayed with his grandma for a several months but his care was more than she could handle.
With the consent of his family, she reached out to us for help. Bentley has a history of allergies and ear infections.
He was on medication but continued to suffer from these "typical bulldog issues."
We immediately stopped the Apoquel and detoxed his body from it.
He's been on a high quality food for the last few months and is doing amazing. His skin and ears look great!
His adoptive family will be required to continue this food
(NO exceptions- the only other alternative is to upgrade to a balanced RAW DIET).
We will not risk him backtracking in his health due to low quality food.

Bentley also has anxiety. He would love a nice quiet home to relax in. He's not big on traveling,
although his car anxiety is much improved with the help of CBD oil. He loves to lounge on the couch during the day,
but he prefers to sleep in his crate at night. In fact, he has a strict bedtime of 10pm.
He puts himself to bed at 10pm every night. If not allowed to go to his crate at this time, he does get pretty cranky! LOL
Bentley also gets along great with other dogs and cats!
We wanted to keep Bentley in our care for at least 3 months to monitor his diet change.
Now that we are confident he is doing well, he is ready for adoption and we are currently screening apps.
Until then, you can sponsor Bentley's care (food, CBD oil, etc) through Paypal.me/hoosierbulldogrescue
Or purchase something from his Amazon Wish List!

9/19/19 Bentley PUPDATE:
Bentley's labs came back perfect. He’s already neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.
We’ll just continue to monitor his skin on his new food for awhile before he's ready to go.
He was transitioned off of Apoqel and a lower quality kibble, and put on Farmina.
So far he’s doing really well. His wrinkles are clearing up and his ears are looking good.
It can take a few months to det
ox all the toxins out of their system though.
He would be an excellent candidate for a raw diet,
but at the very least his new family will need to continue either Farmina, Open Farm, or Carna4 food.
No exceptions.

He will need a quiet home.
He is not a good match for someone who travels frequently as he gets nervous in new / different settings.
He’s definitely a home-body. He gets along with other dogs and cats.
No kids. Again, he just wants a chill calm home to snooze on the couch ... woooosaaaaaa
🧘🏼‍♂️

Good morning!
Tweaked my anxiety meds and I had a super smooth car ride yesterday!
I only need meds before anxiety provoking events like car rides.
At home I’m pretty chill. I'm still a typical bulldog though and will bark at anything out of place! LoL

Hey guys, we had to make a call on attending the event later today.
It’s already so humid and the temp is expected to be in the high 80's.

That means it's definitely not bulldog friendly weather!🥴
We will be doing our raffle later today though so be sure to check in later!

Foster mom picked me up from The Blonde Lady this morning.
I didn’t wanna get out of the car when we got home though....not until we get a pup cup.
Duh. I had to bring in reinforcements. But Bruce and I stood our ground and won.

It's been 2 months now and Bentley is doing great on his new food (Farmina).
His allergies are at bay, his ears are good and skin is good, and he has a lot more energy.
His anxiety is also decreased. He also gets CBD oil daily.
His new family will need to continue this food and supplement regimen.

Only dogs who’s name starts with B get that cookie.
MINE!

There’s a steak back here labeled Dorothy Bucket List.
Uhhhhh I think I need a Bucket List steak too!!

Bentley is back at The Diva Dog House for the week while his foster is out of town.
Which is great timing actually because we need to assess how he does in a multi-dog home for a potential adoption.
We are now screening apps for this cute kid! Bentley is doing great on his new food (Farmina).
He is off dangerous Apoquel and maintains healthy coat and ears.

Diet. Is. Everything. He has more energy and his anxiety is actual less.
He gets CBD oil daily (thanks to Daisy’s mom with Secrets of Hemp!)

Bentley gets along with cats and dogs. He would be fine with older children.

1/30/20 Update:
What a difference at the vet today vs when Bentley first came in....
He was so anxious at the first visit that he went into respiratory distress and his temp spiked to 104.
Today he ate up all the attention and even laid down for some belly rubs during the exam!
He stopped and looked right at Dr C for the eye exam too lol

Bentley wasn’t due for vaccines yet when he came in back in September.
So we just did lab work at the time and started him on a new high quality diet for his allergies (Farmina ).
He’s been on CBD oil for his anxiety as well. Today Bentley got a health exam and
we updated his rabies with a 3 year tag and titered for distemper and parvo.
Food allergies don’t change overnight so we took our time making sure he was doing well on the new diet.
He has a meet n greet this weekend with a potential family who will continue providing the same level of care.
We don’t ever want this boy to go back to chronic skin and ear issues that are due solely to diet.
