Nov 2021 Update - JOJO Is now available for adoption!
JoJo is a senior girl from the Dubois County Humane Society. They took her in and gave her a full veterinary work up. They quickly learned she is one hot mess :) She is nearly blind , pretty deaf, was treated for hookworms, has dry eye/cherry eye, and still has blood in her stool. Oh and she’s heart worm positive :( She is so super sweet though!!! You know we can’t turn down the hot messes.

JoJo update- She is out of surgery and in recovery!
If you missed the update on the original Facebook post, the vet did x-rays and then an ultrasound prior to putting her under. They wanted to check to make sure the cancer hadnt metastasized to the lungs, and that her heartworm was not too severe for anesthesia. So good news- lungs and heart look great. Unfortunately they did see another mass on her spleen. So they had to open her up to remove that. And it’s a good thing they did because it ruptured while they were in there. We are so thankful it didn’t rupture before now and cause internal bleeding. Removal of the rectal mass went well. Hopefully this solves the bleeding butt issue. 🙃 Thankfully she was already spayed so there was nothing there to remove. 🙂
She’ll be able to go home this evening. Once recovered, she will need a second surgery to take care of her cherry eye and a dental to address her rotting teeth 😬 ... and then of course heartworm treatment. We’ve been doing HWF which is a holistic remedy. We’ll test again when she gets closer to being treatment ready. How cool would it be if this worked and we didn’t have to put her through harsh chemical treatment?? Paws crossed ! If you can donate we really appreciate it. She’s going to be an expensive gal 💁🏼♀️ 😂

Guess who got some great news last night..
JoJo’s biopsy came back- BENIGN!!!! So the type of cells in her rectal mass do have the potential for reoccurrence as well as potential to become cancerous later. But for now we celebrate! Dental & Cherry eye surgery scheduled for June |
Our friend JoJo from Fetch Dog Resort made a donation to my medical care. Thanks girlfriend!! Us JoJos gotta stick together

You think I’m sleeping. But I’m lying in wait to lick your toes -JoJo ** JoJo’s labs came came great. She’s scheduled for surgery on Thursday! |
the JoJos are coming in nicely this year
JoJo update - her eye surgery went well...she has very little tear production so we are increasing her eyedrops. She lost five teeth during her dental cleaning… Which considering the state of her mouth is actually not bad. She’s got a little bit of a skin infection, so will start some medication for that. Otherwise she’s doing great! |
JoJo here with a friendly 4th of July reminder…
Have a safe and happy holiday!
- double check your doors, gates , locks.
- let your pets out early to potty so they don’t have to go during the big booms
- make sure your pets are wearing ID tags and that your tag info and microchip info is up to date
- keep the lights on to reduce flashes
- loud soothing music - we prefer jazz but classical is nice too
- products like CBD , Adaptil , AnimalEO, and thunder shirts are a must have
Have a safe and happy holiday!
8/1/21 Update - "Did I hear a cheese wrapper? No? I'm going back to sleep."
10/18/21 Update - JoJo Potato is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE! After several months of natural treatment, her heartworm test is negative. She will continue the maintenance dose of HWF from Amber NaturalZ for prevention moving forward. She has gotten a little (or a lot) yeasty in the past few months. We've changed her to a raw diet of Answers Pet Food and started her on the Yeasty Beast blend from animalEO. She's improved quite a bit, but it's a slow process. She's now also on an oral antifungal and will soon start the YeastyBeasty probiotic protocol from The Adored Beast Apothecary. Hoping we can get her yeast under control and she'll be good as new! Yay JoJo! |
12/23/21 Update - JoJo picked up her Secret Santa box today! Hers was loaded up with mostly snacks.
2/17/22 Update - JoJo got a pup cup for good girl behavior at the vet today! She was due for her annual wellness. That’s right - she’s been with us for a year now! We did annual senior bloodwork, titer testing, and she got her 3 year rabies. She’s still having some skin flare ups occasionally, so we’re doing a little diet change again and seeing if that helps. Foster doesn’t use any chemical based cleaning products so we’ve ruled that out. It may just be that time of year with allergies surging. Overall she’s doing great and is ready for her own retirement home. |
3/10/22 Update - Met up with JoJo today at PetPeople to get some snacks… her yeast is better but she’s definitely a higher maintenance gal to keep stable. She’s eating Tucker's Raw , and we ordered some The Adored Beast Apothecary YeastyBeast topical spray to try out. And, yes, it looks like her cherry eye is peeking out again (sigh) … we’ll keep an eye on it (pun intended). |
6/22/22 Update - When you want to sunbathe but the sun is a little too sunshiney
9/23/22 Update - Overall good report from the dogtor. I’m continuing my supplements and adding in a few more. I’m still pretty yeasty but definitely better than before. My anal polyp is still small. The bleeding is mostly controlled on Chinese herbs. While I’m technically adoptable, I know my needs are a lot to take on and I’m a senior girl. So any donations you can make to help the Rescue continue my care are super appreciated! |
10/2/22 Update - Spa day for JoJo! She gets a bath at least weekly to keep her skin and coat healthy.
