Grooming
English Bulldog: While their short-haired smooth coat is easy to groom, the bulldog is not a low maintenance dog in terms of care. Their wrinkles must be wiped daily with baby wipe or medicated wipe. Wrinkles must be kept clean and dry. Many bulldogs often have a tail pocket that needs to be wiped clean with a baby wipe or medicated wipe daily as well. This breed is an average shedder. Their coat and skin health requires a high quality diet, usually grain-free. Bulldogs are prone to hot spots and interdigital cysts (IDCs) when fed a lower quality diet with lots of fillers.

Activity Requirements
English Bulldog: Many people think of bulldogs as lazy couch potatoes. Despite their love of relaxation, Bulldogs should be walked / gently exercised regularly to keep them in shape, as obesity can be a problem. Bulldogs don't need a lot of vigorous activity, and should not be exercised too hard in hot weather due to their difficulty breathing. They thrive best in temperate climates; they readily overheat and have breathing difficulties in hot weather, and they chill easily in cold temperatures
French Bulldog: French Bulldog puppies are especially frisky, and ball chasing is one of their passions. Adults are more dignified and can be champion couch potatoes, but also love to clown around and go for walks in cool weather. French Bulldogs should also not be exercised too hard in the summer months, as they are prone to heatstroke.
Swimming pool owners must exercise caution: Because of their squat build and heavy head, most French & English bulldogs cannot swim and will drown if they fall into a pool.

Training
English Bulldog: Bulldogs are known for being stubborn, but that doesn't mean training is out of the question. Bulldogs are smart and benefit from mental simulation. Training should always be fun and a positive bonding experience. Food and positive reinforcement are the only two methods that should ever be employed with this breed, as a heavy hand will get you nowhere.
French Bulldog: One thing to note is that they are a particularly intelligent breed. They’re known to shock their owners by expressing a startling intuition, and also by how well they can adapt to their environments. While they do have extremely short attention spans, by in large they’re capable of learning quickly.
All of our adoption contracts require only positive based training. Prong collars, choke collars, and electric collars will never be acceptable forms of "training" with our dogs.
